The Heart of the City Piano Program (HCPP) aims to enhance the lives and learning opportunities for children and youth in the community through a structured music program for those students who would otherwise not have such an opportunity.
Sponsored by the Saskatchewan Music Educators Association, all of the Heart of the City Piano Program coordinators and piano teachers are volunteers. The Heart of the City Piano Program began in 1995 in Saskatoon under the leadership of Richard Dubé. It has now expanded to include sites in Edmonton, Montreal, Moose Jaw, Ottawa, Regina, and Vancouver.
Thanks to the ongoing support from the Regina Public School Division and Regina Separate School Division, the Heart of the City Piano Program is able to offer lessons to children at the following Community Schools: Coronation Park Community School and Holy Rosary Community School.
