All of the instruments and music resources are provided by HCPP \u2013 there is no cost to the volunteers. Lessons take place in the schools during school hours. The school in turn donates a portion of the student\u2019s academic time to participate in piano lessons. Students are scheduled to practice before school, after school and at recess. Each school has a HCPP coordinator who monitors practicing and oversees the program at the school. Lessons are scheduled to begin the first weekend October and will run consecutively until the beginning of May. The students participate in a Christmas and year end recital as well as the Regina Music Festival.<\/p>\n

Heart of the City Regina is recruiting a board of directors for the upcoming school year.\u00a0 There are six positions to be filled, as our chapter is experiencing an unprecedented amount of growth this year. Become a volunteer and use your skills to help this wonderful program achieve its full potential! Previous piano experience is not necessary; we are looking for committed individuals who are passionate about the arts and want to utilize their business, management and organizational skills.<\/p>\n

Below is some information on the variety of site placements that are looking for piano teachers. Also outlined is a list of the requirements which need to be completed in order to be a volunteer with the Heart of the City Piano Program.<\/p>\n

Requirements for the Heart of the City Piano Program<\/p>\n

1. Resume<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Including mailing address and phone number.<\/p>\n

2. Three Character Reference Checks<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Can be letters of reference or names with contact numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Registration Form<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0– Found <\/span>Here<\/span><\/a>. Along with a letter of intent on why you would like to volunteer and how you heard about the program.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.Police Record Check<\/span>\u00a0– <\/span>F<\/span>ree of charge if completed at the Regina Police Service \u2013 Osler Street and you specify you are volunteering with the Regina Public School Division or Regina Separate School Division in the Heart of the City Piano Program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Michelle\u00a0will then collect your volunteer requirements and forward your name onto one of the school coordinators at the school of your choice. The school coordinator will then work with you to get you paired with students and a<\/p>\n

These are middle years schools. The ages range from 7 years to 14 years. For the most part, these children are beginner piano students. There may be some students in this program who have participated in HCPP the previous year.
